Talltail entered the presences of the ancient oak tree. The scent of fresh-kill loomed everywhere but, the smell of squirrel was closest. Suddenly a brown blur of a squirrel scampered by. Talltail bolted after it. Her long limbs were no match for the unaware squirrel. She caught it and swiftly killed it with a bite to the neck, satisfied with her catch.

Frostfox leaped down from a low branch in the Sky Oak. "Hey there, Talltail. Nice catch." He stretched luxuriously.

Talltail jumped back when Frostfox leaped beside her. "Thanks Frostfox. Would you like to hunt with me?" she said as she scraped dirt over the squirrel.

Frostfox's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "Yeah, let's go." He stalked off into the bushes and lifted his nose to the air. "Wood pigeon," he muttered. Dropping down into a crouch he crept silently towards the scent. The pigeon came into view. It had its back turned away from Frostfox, so he continued to move soundlessly towards it. When he was about two fox-lengths away he bunched his muscles and leaped, landing perfectly on the wood pigeon.

Talltail watched silently, as Frostfox pounced onto the wood pigeon. The small sound of a mouse's feet moved under a twisted root. Talltail dropped into a hunters crouch behind the root and eyed the mouse until it slowly crept out into the open. She knew the wind would not carry her scent to the mouse in time so Talltail quickly leaped over the root and onto the mouse with unsheathed claws, killing it. A heart-beat after she pounced on the mouse, a second appeared nearer to Frostfox.

"Very nice reflexes, Frostfox." Talltail meowed. "Do you think we should take this fresh-kill back to camp right now, or should we hunt some more?" She asked, aware that it was nearly sun-high.

HeatherStar's pawprints thickened as she pounced through the shadowy forest at Sundown. Soon she stoped and froze, her ears shot up and she lowered herself towards the ground of the muddy floor. She crawled over to the sound and jumped.

"Okay, Frostfox." meowed Talltail as she picked up the dead mouse then headed over to the squirrel she had caught before Frostfox joined her.

Frostfox grabbed the wood thrush and the mouse and padded alongside Talltail. "The prey is running very well," he mumbled around the wood thrush.

Frostfox spotted his mate as she pushed though the thorn tunnel. "Looks like Heatherstar got some prey too. We may not have to come back after all."

Talltail had noticed Heatherstar too,"Yeah, I guess you're right, Frostfox." She meowed,"Heatherstar, do you want me to check the boarders before moon-raise?"
